The blastocyst has arrived in my uterus. Baby has arrived in his home for the next 9 months!
Poppyseed baby 🙂
The blastocyst is dividing. Part of it will become the placenta (which is already starting to develop), and the other part (embryo) will become Baby.
On the baby side of things, the amniotic sac and the yolk sac are starting to make an appearance. The embryo is made up of three layers. The innermost layer is the endoderm. This will form the lungs, liver and digestive system. The second, the mesoderm, will become the heart and muscles, the kidneys, and the reproductive organs, as well as the bones. The last layer, the ectoderm, will be the nervous system, eyes, skin, and hair.
I am blown away by how fast things go at this early stage. It’s just magic.
I called my OB’s office to let them know that I was pregnant and they have sent me for two blood tests, 48 hours apart to make sure that the hGC hormone levels are rising as they should. I will also have a 6 week Viability and Dating ultrasound on April 8th.
As I had to explain to my sister, officially I am four weeks pregnant. This means, however, that conception occurred two weeks ago…
